India today generates more than 4 million tonnes of end-of-life electronic waste annually. Attero is one of India's biggest recycling companies, generating an annual revenue of INR 1,200 crores. Its current e-waste recycling capacity is 1,50,000 tons, and its LIB recycling capacity is nearly 15,000 tons annually. Both operate at full capacity in Roorkee, Uttarakhand.

For lithium-ion battery recycling, the company can take in all kinds of chemistries and process them to produce battery-grade materials, closing the loop. In this interaction, Co-founder and CEO Nitin Gupta shares the technology advantage Attero has built, resulting in lower capex & opex and higher extraction efficiency, leading to better profitability.

Nitin also discusses the challenges for the recycling industry, the potential economic value of efficiently managing e-waste, the shift from the informal to the formal sector, collection channels, views on EPR regulations and anticipated changes in incoming feedstock volumes.
