Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a type of blood cancer where the bone marrow produces too many abnormal white blood cells, called blasts, that prevent the production of normal blood cells. This rapid production of abnormal cells can lead to a variety of symptoms, including fatigue, easy bruising, frequent infections, and bleeding. AML is often diagnosed in older adults and is more common in males. Treatment typically involves chemotherapy, and in some cases, bone marrow or stem cell transplantation.

Rapid progression: AML is characterized by its rapid progression, meaning the disease can worsen quickly if left untreated.

Bone marrow involvement: The disease originates in the bone marrow, where blood cells are produced.

Impact on blood cells: AML affects the production of red blood cells (causing anemia), white blood cells (increasing susceptibility to infections), and platelets (leading to easy bruising and bleeding).

Diagnosis and treatment:
