Check out the new exclusive preview demo look from the upcoming Crisol: Theater of Idols running in Unreal Engine 5. We captured the first 1 hour of gameplay footage in RTX 5090 and 4K monitor (no commentary). The game is a first person action horror adventure developed by the Spanish indie team Vermila Studios and published by Blumhouse Games. Often described as a BioShock and Resident Evil mix, the game blends intense shooter mechanics with a heavy atmosphere rooted in religious folklore.

Description:

The game takes place in Hispania, a dark, nightmarish reimagining of early 20th-century Spain. Players take on the role of Gabriel, a soldier sent on a divine mission to the cursed island of Tormentosa. You must navigate a world where everyday religious devotion has twisted into something grotesque, uncovering the mysteries behind a conflict between the Sun God and a mysterious sea cult.

Gameplay Features:

Blood as Ammunition: The most unique feature is the "sacrifice" system. Your blood is both your health and your ammo. Every shot you fire from your weapons (which range from tridents to crossbows) drains your life, forcing you to constantly balance aggression with survival.

Tactical Combat: Players must manage resources carefully, using coins found during exploration to upgrade powers and weapons to handle increasingly dangerous foes.

Atmospheric Horror: The game features enemies inspired by Spanish traditions, such as staggering statues of saints that come to life and masked automatons.

Environmental Storytelling: Much like the games it draws inspiration from, the story is revealed through documents, inscriptions in archaic Spanish, and the haunting architecture of Tormentosa.

Release Date and Platforms: Coming February 10, 2026 to PS5, Xbox and PC.
