How To Deal With Anger

Описание к видео How To Deal With Anger

Pastor Darrin Patrick takes a look at the book and life of James, Jesus's half brother, and shares what the Bible can teach us about how to deal with anger.

Notes:

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the justice of God. James 1:19-20

The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Exodus 34:6

LISTEN TO THE WORD

WE MUST LISTEN FOR GOD IN OUR EMOTIONS AND SPEAK GOD’S WORD TO OUR EMOTIONS.

Some Primary Emotions

Joy

Anger

Sadness

Fear

Disgust

Surprise

RECEIVE THE WORD
...

When you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you.
1 Thessalonians 2:13

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly... Colossians 3:16

WE MUST RECEIVE WHAT GOD’S WORD IS DOING IN US.
...

receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21

APPLY THE WORD
...

be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in the mirror. James 1:23

For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. James 1:24

WE MUST APPLY GOD’S WORD TO OUR LIFE SPECIFICALLY.

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. James 1:25

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:26-27
