Cancer कैसे और कब फैलता है? | How Cancer Spreads in the Body Step by Step |Dr Praveen Kammar, Mumbai
It is important to understand that cancer spread happens in stages. Dr. Praveen Kammar explains that it is a step by step process.
First, cancer cells must detach from the main tumor. Then they enter blood vessels or lymphatic vessels. After that, they travel through circulation, reach a new site, exit into tissues, and multiply. Each stage presents multiple challenges for cancer cells.
You will also learn how cancer cells develop the ability to spread. This does not happen suddenly. It requires specific genetic mutations and abnormalities. Even after entering circulation, most cancer cells are destroyed because they cannot navigate through small blood vessels or the immune system eliminates them. Only a few survive and reach distant organs like the lungs, liver, brain or bones.
The video also explains what metastasis is and how it works. Dr. Praveen Kammar discusses the famous Seed and Soil theory, which says cancer cells, like seeds, will only grow if they find a suitable environment, like soil. If conditions are not favorable, metastasis does not occur.
You will also understand lymph node metastasis, which follows similar steps. Lymph nodes are a key part of the immune system and try to stop cancer cells from spreading. Dr. Praveen Kammar explains that different cancers spread at different speeds. Prostate and thyroid cancers spread slowly while pancreatic cancer or lymphoma can spread very quickly. This depends on the nature of the cancer cells.
We will also answer a common question: Can the spread of cancer be predicted just from a biopsy or tumor size. The answer is that it is almost impossible. Multiple tests like blood work, CT scan and PET scan are required. The spread and aggressiveness are assessed using biopsy results, imaging reports and other clinical factors.
This video is essential for anyone who wants to understand cancer cell spread and the complexities of metastasis. Dr. Praveen Kammar, an expert in digestive system cancers and gynecological cancers, explains it in simple, clear language.
