📌 Transforming Database Migration: How AI is Revolutionizing Legacy Modernization

Abstract:

Database migration remains one of IT's most challenging endeavors, with the vast majority of projects exceeding time and budget constraints. This presentation explores how artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming these historically complex initiatives through intelligent automation, predictive capabilities, and autonomous optimization.
Traditional migration approaches, relying on manual schema mapping and reactive performance tuning, consistently demonstrate significant error rates and require substantial post-migration remediation, with most projects needing extensive performance optimization after completion. In contrast, AI-driven frameworks have demonstrated remarkable efficiency gains, dramatically reducing manual effort while improving accuracy across critical migration tasks.
Our analysis demonstrates how AI technologies excel in three crucial domains: schema conversion, performance optimization, and error detection. Deep learning approaches to schema mapping have achieved substantially higher accuracy compared to conventional techniques, while predictive performance tuning reduces query response time significantly with considerably less DBA effort.
