Indian dance can be a powerful spiritual practice for women. Sourced in ancient women-led dance traditions, Indian dance has always held the knowing of Goddess wisdom and the Divine Feminine at its heart.

The free trial class is focused on the Great Goddess Aditi, an ancient pre Vedic and Vedic Goddess that embodied the expansive nature of Reality. In Indian philosophy, Aditi is a pre-Vedic (before 1200 BCE) Deity who is the source of life, nourishment as well as moksha, or transcendent perception of Reality that is true freedom. A Great Goddess infused Reality embraces fluidity and the unknown depths of sensation as forces that underpin life. This powerful lens of Reality declined in Vedic times where mind-dominated paradigms of philosophy flourished which value definition and permanence.

Ancient Indian dance is central to Great Goddess practices and is the language of woman-led philosophies. The courses will include movement inspired by some of the most ancient remnants of goddess artefacts and their subsequent transformations in ancient Indian dance ritual as suggested in the Natya Sastra (250 BCE to 300 CE), the seminal text on Indian dance.
