My theory about the story of the lost astronaut and the trailer is based on the lore that's available from the official posters.

Looking at the spaceship in the trailer it looks like the current Space Shuttle, so I'm guessing this story is maybe tens or even hundreds of years before the signing of the peace treaty.
The lost astronaut has a spacesuit that looks similar to the current space suits used by NASA but Miles and Joni are wearing newer looking suit although still not super futuristic.

When they discovered the lost ship of Miles's (the human) father they took back the black box and deciphered the information.
Which they called "The map" and they they are being chased for it.
First the MUD then you see the TUFA ship at the end and probably many more factions.

I believe eventually they sold or traded the information to all factions so that there isn't a reason any more to be killed.
With the information available to all factions all these factions went off to this new system where the cataclysm (IRIS) resides.
Do note that this is speculation based on the lore that can be found in the artworks like the posters and official descriptions that came with the NFT's.

Trivia: Miles is the human. The female alien is called Joni but the name of the Ustur is still unknown.
