An Interview with Tiffany Chou in San Diego, California on May 8, 2023 by Michael Sean Comerford.
This project is going to be called the Pacific Coast in Climate Crisis, and I will ride my bike from Seattle to San Diego, California. A few months ago I rode my bicycle from Maine down to Key West for a project called the Atlantic Coast in Climate Crisis. Along the way we asked five-minute questions of people about their experience with climate change and what they think should be done and where they see this all going. The interviews were so spectacular and the project was turned out so well I felt like it was a job half done. So I packed up my stuff and traveled on an Amtrak train to Seattle from Miami. We're going to ride a bicycle all the way to San Diego along the Pacific Ocean and asking the same questions.
Eventually we're going to have in this slow journalism overall project the original slow journalism project of, "Beast of Main Street," which was a bicycle ride from Chicago to Los Angeles asking people about Covid. That project that I thought was really about Covid and all the best ways to survive it turned out that it was all about people who really wanted to talk about meaning of life and the reasons to live during a pandemic. It was a great surprise and very deep experience. We're hoping that these are going to result in similar revelations about how people are educating themselves on climate change and how their opinions may be setting the tone for the coming days.
