Lovebird growth process 🐣🐥🐤 (splayed legs and how to fix it)

Описание к видео Lovebird growth process 🐣🐥🐤 (splayed legs and how to fix it)

(Best watched in Full Screen)

My pet lovebirds finally was able to curb their insane urge to have babies, and I decided to film down the growing process of the babies because why not! 🤣 I whipped out my camera, but most of my IG stories had better details so I added quite a bit of it too.

Who knew that so many things can happen within this 1.5 months, and so many mistakes were made by us that I hope everyone will learn what NOT to do from this video.

The babies are doing well, but I still feel like it's our fault for not making the sound decision earlier and change their nest to a better one with better support because we were scared they might get abandoned by the parents.

The nest also gets pretty ****ing dirty so please brace yourself...but the babies are always kept clean by their parents despite being surrounded by their own poop, which we wouldn't know how to if the parents abandoned them.

There are several people telling me different things about whether bird parents will abandon the babies or not, but at that point I felt that it was better to avoid any situation that might make them abandon the babies when I can’t take care of them cause they were too young. Trust me, I was grossed out by the nest too but I figured nobody would clean a bird’s nest in the wild anyway and decided to be safe than sorry.

1:01 We were lucky that R&B did not abandoned the babies, but we should have changed the nesting area with wood chips 9:36 instead of paper at this point, maybe even giving them the whole shoe box instead of that slippery plate.
Slippery and insufficient nesting material for nesting area WILL cause splayed legs for the babies as the mother usually will sit on them, having little to no space for the babies to rest their feet properly. You can read more about it here: https://www.petful.com/pet-health/car...

3:24 Thank you @squeezymonkey on Dayre for giving me her recipe for this eggfood! I'm still using it! ♥️ The eggfood that I made is very similar to this one: http://www.parrotforums.com/parrot-fo...

7:49 First time handfeeding these babies! We handfeed R&B and their first batch of babies before, so we know what we're doing. Please do not attempt by yourself if it's your first time - you might accidentally feed too much/burn their crop. Get a professional to teach and guide you a few times first!
We also follow this schedule for handfeeding baby lovebirds: https://lovebirdpurworejo.blogspot.co...
Every species of birds require different things so do your own research to know what's best for your kiddo!

10:15 I used this sponge method here for splayed legs: https://fallowgirl.blogspot.com/2011/...
But I don't really recommend this as a lot of mistakes could be made like making the hole too small (which I suspect is what we did) and the distance between the hole might be incorrect etc. So if you're not going to send the babies to a vet/professional to do it, do NOT attempt this method. If the bones grow and support themselves the wrong way it could get worse!

This method is WAY easier and there's space for the legs to move, yet giving enough support, so I highly recommend this method instead if you want to try to fix it yourself. A trip to the vet is recommended though if you have the means to do so!
