In this unit we will explore the balance of power in Europe following the defeat of Napoleon and the end of the French Revolution. The 19th century would be dominated by a struggle between old conservative forces who wished for a return to the status quo, and new ideologies borne out the French Revolution & Enlightenment such as Liberalism and Nationalism which spread calls for reform across Europe. This culminated in the Revolutions of 1848 which spread across every part of Europe.
