Duration of the laparoscopic surgery in hernia depends on how complex is the hernia. If the adhesion are very bad, it takes long time to release the adhesions if the gap is very big, it may take more time to close the gap and if the sac is more complex and there are multiple herniations, then the dissection may also take longer time. If it is inguinal hernia, bilateral inguinal hernia can take more time but on an average, however complex it is, it should not go beyond 2 hours. Normally by 45 minutes to 1 hour, we complete the surgery if it is a simple herniation. In complex hernias, the surgery can go upto 2 hours to 2 and a half hours.
