A level crossing located next to and controlled from an active signal box at the former site of Ketton and Collyweston Railway Station. This level crossing, in a very pleasant and rather tranquil location, has no audible alarms whatsoever, so the noisiest aspect of this level crossing is its barriers. It's because the level crossing is a pre-1980s installation dating back to when level crossings either had bells or no audible warning at all, yet no alarm has been fitted onto the system since this level crossing was originally commissioned despite barrier and road light (wigwag) renewals in more recent years. The signaller has full control of the barriers lowering and raising, however, as a separate button needs to be pressed to raise and lower the barriers, so this level crossing is still perfectly safe as the barriers will not be lowered until the level crossing is seen to be fully clear.

The line which this level crossing is located on sees a fair amount of freight traffic within a typical few hours on a weekday, and two freight trains are seen passing in the first of two lowerings featured in this video. Train horns can be heard before trains appear on the approaches, due to nearby footpath level crossings.

Thanks for watching!
