On February 29th, 2024, Danielle Smith and the Governing United Conservative Party tabled Alberta’s 2024-2025 Provincial Budget.

Now according to the province, "With a steady focus on fiscal responsibility and wise spending, Alberta’s government will continue to meet the needs of Albertans today and tomorrow."

In 2024-25, total revenue is estimated to be $73.5 billion, which is $2.1 billion lower than the third-quarter forecast for 2023-24. While the total expense in 2024-25 is $73.2 billion, a 3.9 per cent increase from the forecast for 2023-24.

We caught up with Tyler Gandam, the President of the Alberta Municipalities, for his reaction to the provincial budget.

Gandam says that The $722 million in funding allocated to the Local Government Fiscal Framework (LGFF) in the provincial government’s 2024-25 falls far short of what is needed to address infrastructure needs.

As a prominent advocate for municipal interests, President Gandam's perspective promises to shed light on the implications of this provincial budget.
