I am comparing a vintage and a brand new canteen. Both hold 2 quarts. They both are western style. The vintage canteen blanket material is heavier and has metal adjusters for the strap. The new has plastic adjusters for the nylon strap and plastic for the cap attachment. The vintage has a chain to secure the cap. And a green like military strap vs the black nylon on the new canteen. Both have hard plastic bladders inside. I purchased the vintage for $2.00 at a thrift store and the new canteen for $13.99 plus tax totaling $15.30 at Bass Pro Shop. Purchased on 3-24-2023.
