Most people experience Dubai from behind a windscreen, moving between air conditioned spaces and long highways. I wanted to see what the city feels like when you remove the car completely. In this video, I start in Business Bay and try to cross the city using only public transport - the driverless Metro, the tram, the RTA ferry, and the walking routes that fill the gaps. No taxis, no shortcuts, just whatever the network offers.
From the busy streets around Business Bay to the older lanes of Bur Dubai, then out across the water and all the way to Bluewaters and JBR, this is a simple question with a slightly inconvenient answer: can you actually travel across Dubai comfortably without a car? If you’ve ever wondered what the city looks like from pavements, stations, ferries and footbridges instead of the motorway, this is the version most people never see.
