Karl Stoll is a roots rock & blues singer/songwriter/guitarist/bandleader based in Washington, DC. The Danger Zone has been performing regularly in the Washington DC region for more than 20 years. Career highlights include the release of three albums and an appearance on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion” to an audience of 15 million.

Tommy Lepson engineered, mixed, mastered and co-produced this recording. He is an award-winning artist known for his soulful voice and B3 grooves. Lepson has toured all over the world and recorded with Nils Lofgren, Danny Gatton, Dave Chappell, Tom Principato, Root Boy Slim and many others. He currently appears with Soul Crackers and his own band, The Bad Dawgs.

“Struck by Lightning” features an all-star lineup that includes longtime Danger Zone players Brian Alpert on drums and Mojo Dixon on harmonica. These steady sidemen have been performing and recording in The Zone for more than two decades.

Drummer Alpert has toured with guitar greats Danny Gatton, Jimmy Thackery, Tom Principato and Bob Margolin, as well as with the western swing band Cowboy Jazz with Deanna Bogart. He is currently performing with several bands including The Thrills.

While performing with a DC-area country band, harpist Dixon has opened shows for Glen Campbell, Brad Paisley, Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers, and other well-known artists.

Special guests on “Struck by Lightning” include Lepson on organ, Steve Wolf on bass and Ken Wenzel on sax.

Wolf, a fixture of the Mid-Atlantic music world since the 1960s, is known for his work with a multitude of standouts, including Danny Gatton, Tom Principato and Mark Wenner’s Blues Warriors.

Wenzel is a singer/songwriter/guitarist who plays baritone and tenor sax on this song. He appears regularly in the DC area solo and with his band Cross Kentucky.

“I’m so lucky to work with these gifted players,” Stoll said. “They read my mind and then add their own creative twist to what I’m thinking. I’ve learned so much from each of them. They always make the songs better than I envisioned.”
