Empowering 50,000 people through peacebuilding 🕊️

Over 18,000 people were killed by ISIS in 2014 and 2015 in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Women were enslaved and children were forced to join ISIS.

In those dark times, our Ambassador, Walaa gave her community a ray of hope and founded Better World in 2017. Better World is an NGO that supports refugees, returnees, and members of host communities affected by displacement. They create programmes to educate and employ women and provide mental health support and sustainable employment opportunities.

In six years, Walaa’s work has impacted over 50,000 people. Better World has helped over 10,000 women and children deal with trauma, girls have been readmitted into school and over 100 women have founded their own businesses.

In these challenging times, the hope of peace and justice might feel difficult, but raising your voice and amplifying peacebuilders such as Walaa will promote unity and peace.
