Newly unsealed court records provide details about the traffic stop in May that led to Boosie's recent federal gun charges. The records reveal that San Diego police tracked Boosie's Instagram account and even used a helicopter to locate him in a neighborhood associated with a gang. Prosecutors state that the arrest was prompted by an Instagram video showing Boosie, with a black handgun tucked into his waistband. After locating him through the Instagram account, police conducted a traffic stop and discovered a black pistol in the vehicle. Boosie was initially arrested on state charges during a court appearance, but federal prosecutors subsequently charged him with violating federal laws that prohibit a convicted felon from possessing a firearm. The charging documents provide further information on the events leading to Boosie's arrest, including monitoring the Instagram account of a gang member, observing Boosie in a live video stream associated with the gang, and locating him in a black SUV with two pistols inside. The reason for the federal charges following the dismissal of the state case remains unclear. Boosie appeared before a federal judge and is currently in federal custody awaiting a decision on pre-trial release, scheduled for June 19th.
