Hey friends! Here I’ve created a special medley of two pieces: the ubiquitous late Medieval chanson, “l’Homme Armé” (whose words warn, “The armed man should be feared”), one of the most well-known secular songs from the late 15th century; and a three voice rondeau, "Il Sera Pour Vous," by Robert Morton, whose bottom two voices feature the melody of “l’Homme Armé” in canon.

In my arrangement, I begin by singing l’Homme Armé; I then launch into the rondeau, playing the two bottom voices (the l'Homme Armé canon) on the guitar. The rondeau, composed by either Robert Morton or Antoine Busnoys, features some very - shall we say - “hopeful” lyrics discussing defeating the Turks in battle. I then conclude by playing the unadorned l'Homme Arme melody once more on the guitar.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think in the comments!
