Over 20 years of representing victims and families, PSR has witnessed the power of the legal system to affect meaningful change.

One of those cases is the tragic death of 13-year-old Alex Pierce. At a school swim event supervised by Murrieta Valley Unified School District, Alex repeatedly signaled for help before he was recovered from the bottom of the pool and floated on a backboard without anyone administering CPR before paramedics arrived.

PSR fought on behalf of Alex's family, securing an $11 million settlement and driving significant reforms in both policy and school district procedures. In Alex's memory, Alex's Law (AB1214) was enacted in 2019, requiring trained, certified lifeguards at all school swimming events and mandating CPR training for school staff.

For the last two decades, PSR has stood with families to turn tragedy into reform and advocated for change that make our communities safer.
