Ingredients:
1 cup Alasanda (black-eyed peas)

A few curry leaves, chopped
1 tsp cumin seeds
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying

Instructions:

1. **Soak Alasanda**: Soak the black-eyed peas in water for at least 4-5 hours or overnight. Drain the water and remove the skins (you can rub the peas between your palms to loosen the skins).

2. **Grind**: Grind the soaked peas into a coarse paste without adding too much water. The batter should be thick.

3. **Mix**: Add the chopped onion, green chilies, ginger, curry leaves, cumin seeds, and salt to the batter. Mix well.

4. **Shape**: Wet your hands and take a small portion of the batter. Shape it into a round ball and flatten it slightly to form a vada.

5. **Fry**: Heat oil in a deep pan. Once the oil is hot, carefully slide the vadas into the oil. Fry them on medium heat until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides.

6. **Serve**: Drain the vadas on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato chutney.
