This walk will bring you through the Shunzenji Onsen Town in Izu Penninsula.

If you’re looking for an outstanding Japanese hot spring town (Onsen), then head to Shuzenji, who is only a few hours’ train ride from Tokyo in Izu.
Over the years, Shuzenji’s unique history has also inspired travelers and Japanese writers alike.

Shuzenji Onsen was named after Shuzenji Temple at the center of town. Kobo Daishi, one of Japan's most important religious personalities, founded the temple about 1200 years ago.
Today, it is a Zen Buddhist temple where visitors can participate in meditation classes.

You will also find a small bamboo forest, several historic ryokan and a few tastefully designed shops and cafes.
