Hypercalcemia | Hypercalcemia Causes, Symptoms, & Treatment

Описание к видео Hypercalcemia | Hypercalcemia Causes, Symptoms, & Treatment

In this video, we talk about hypercalcemia. We start off with the role calcium plays in the body. We talk about both calcium physiology and calcium pathophysiology. The parathyroid glands and parathyroid hormone (PTH) is super important in calcium regulation. Additionally, the relationship between phosphorus (phosphate) and calcium is an inverse one.

Then we talk about the causes of hypercalcemia. The most significant cause of elevated calcium levels is hyperparathyroidism, followed by malignancy or cancer.

We will also look at the symptoms of hypercalcemia and the treatment of this electrolyte disorder.

By the end of this video, you will be well on your way to passing the NCLEX and USMLE exams, as well as any fluid and electrolyte quizzes your professors may give.
