The Kepler-90 system is a Sun-like star system, about 2,500 light-years away, famous for being the first system found to have eight planets, tying our own Solar System in planet count, with rocky worlds close in and gas giants further out, similar in structure but all packed much tighter. Discovered using NASA's Kepler data and Google's machine learning, its eighth planet, Kepler-90i, is a scorching, Earth-sized world orbiting every 14.4 days, making life as we know it unlikely there.

Discovery:

Initial discoveries used Kepler data, but the eighth planet (Kepler-90i) was found using an AI algorithm (a neural network) developed by Google to sift through transit data, identifying faint planet signals missed by traditional methods.

Significance:
It's the first system outside our own with eight planets, demonstrating that complex, multi-planet systems with patterns similar to the Solar System exist.
