When I first heard Alice Genese's voice, my first thought was "How do you capture electricity in a bottle?" Because it was pure magic, and I was deeply moved enough that I wanted to make sure that others could have the same experience.

I convinced Alice to come to Chicago a couple of weeks later, and this 45 documents our weekend together. Not singing allowed me to focus on the "big picture" in a way that I don't get to do with my own songs, and I was excited to be able to use instruments in my collection in a cavernous industrial building as a shorthand for what I would do with an orchestral composition.
