The Pretoria High Court has ordered the artists, creatives and heritage sector workers and cultural workers who have camped outside the National Arts Council in Johannesburg to leave. On Wednesday, the protesters spoke to the parliamentary portfolio committee for sports, arts & culture, where they recommended that the forensic audit be handled by an independent auditor. The artists have been sitting-in at the NAC’s offices for over a month to protest about an alleged lack of transparency in the allocation of the R300m presidential employment stimulus programme.

We are joined by protest leader and musician Sibongile Mngoma.
