Laylatul Qadr is the most sacred night, described in Surah Al-Qadr as better than a thousand months. Worship on this night leads to forgiveness of all past sins (Bukhari & Muslim), and the angels, along with Jibril (عليه السلام), descend with divine decrees until dawn.

When is Laylatul Qadr?
The Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged seeking it in the last ten nights of Ramadan, especially on the odd nights (Bukhari & Muslim).

    •  The majority opinion is that it falls in the last ten nights, with the 27th night being the most likely.
    •  Imam Shafi‘i: Most likely on the 21st, 23rd, or 27th.
    •  Imam Nawawi & others: It moves within the last ten nights.
    •  Alternative Views: Some scholars, including Imam Abu Hanifa and Ibn Arabi, held that it can occur anywhere in Ramadan—or even outside of it.

Though many companions believed the 27th night is the strongest candidate, there are 46 different scholarly opinions on when it occurs. This means it could be on ANY of the last ten odd nights—so don’t rely on just one!

How to Seek It?
The Prophet (ﷺ) would increase worship in the last ten nights, wake his family, and strive harder in devotion (Bukhari & Muslim). Tahajjud, du’a, dhikr, and acts of worship are highly encouraged. The best way to ensure you don’t miss it? Dedicate yourself to all the odd nights.
