The Studio Tour, also known as the Backlot Tour opened in 1964 at Universal Studios California in Universal City near Los Angeles.

Universal Studios Hollywood in California is a renowned film studio and theme park located in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles County. As one of the oldest and most famous Hollywood film studios still in use, it has earned the title "The Entertainment Capital of LA." Initially created to offer tours of real Universal Studios sets, it has evolved into a full-fledged theme park with thrilling attractions and immersive experiences.

There have been major changes to Universal since 2002 some of which include:

The Upper Lot at Universal Studios Hollywood features a variety of family-based attractions. The Mission Revival entrance pathway, known as Universal Boulevard, leads to the Universal Plaza. Here, you can experience the Waterworld: A Live Sea War Spectacular show and the DreamWorks Theatre, currently showcasing Kung Fu Panda Adventure. This area’s Art Deco theme reflects the glamour of Old Hollywood.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, located in the Upper Lot, is the park's largest themed area. Opened on April 7, 2016, it includes the thrilling ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey inside a replica Hogwarts castle. Visitors can also enjoy the Flight of the Hippogriff roller coaster and the interactive Ollivander's Wand Show. Shops, the Three Broomsticks restaurant, and live shows like the Frog Choir and Triwizard Spirit Rally add to the magical experience.

Springfield, U.S.A., another highlight of the Upper Lot, brings the world of "The Simpsons" to life. This area features attractions like The Simpsons Ride and various eateries from the show, such as Krusty Burger and Moe’s Tavern. The vibrant environment captures the quirky essence of the beloved TV series.

The Lower Lot, though smaller, is packed with excitement. Jurassic World: The Ride is a thrilling water adventure that ends with an 84-foot drop. Nearby, the Raptor Encounter and the Dino Play jungle gym offer additional fun. Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride is a high-speed indoor roller coaster that takes guests through scenes reminiscent of The Mummy franchise. Transformers: The Ride 3D uses advanced technology to simulate a battle between Autobots and Decepticons.

Super Nintendo World is an immersive area in the Lower Lot dedicated to the world of Mario. Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge is an interactive dark ride featuring augmented reality technology. This vibrant land brings the beloved video game franchise to life, allowing guests to explore and engage in a variety of themed attractions and activities.
