2022 Year in Review- NKolakovic

The First tournament of the year was Smokey Mountain Invite. I was filming for UNC Darkside. After seeing a team who’s been so dominant in the college scene it was very nice to get to know some of the players a a bit better. As always LSB came through with a sick layout block featuring a broken hand! I always met up with Brian Whittier who’s an all around gem!

NW Challenge:. The Womens sides was hectic! Double skys and massive layouts everywhere! I got to see UBC (the home team) entertain some of the best games of the tournament which was a strong foreshadow to the events ahead! On the Mens side I was following UVIC and UBC. “Hot Jonah” had one too many layout Ds. UBC players from Furious George got to absolutely dunk on some un expecting victims

College Nats, there’s not much to say. We got some more discs to faces, stomp foot blocks (those are my favourite). Alex Atkins made of show of the college season! Some of the biggest plays came from him! On the Women’s side, again UBC put in some huge games. Dawn Culton was an absolute menace again in on both the defensive and offensive sides! Definitely someone I wouldn’t want to match up against! I didn’t include it in this video but the Callahan Award was between two of the all around most respected College Mens players LSB and JR. Knowing JR for 6 years now and calling him a friend made me very happy to see him win!

Next Stop was Ireland for WMUCC. I gotta say the grass fields were so beautiful. I had to make genuine efforts to go to the turf fields. The Irish always know how to host an event. It was full of well run tournament during the day and laughs singing and drinks at night! I wish I could go back every year!!

WUCC… Deb Lee; OMG major fan boy over here. Hahaha. It was sick being back in Ohio, that field complex is crazy! I survived on Fig bars and Paul Rutherfords company! Seeing the Latvians on Mooncatchers was a guaranteed good show, and it was! Another fan boy moment, I definitely watched as much Buzz Bullets as I could to see Matsuno play in person. I had some much fun with that! Seeing other legends like Hibbert, Mosquera, Phillips, Tulett, Rehder and so many more all in the same place is just incredible! The Women’s final point was also one of the most insane clutch moments of ultimate and infant of a huge crowd!

I think Poland was the Last worlds. Back to the legendary site of the 2016 Finals! The month of 3 worlds events was all combined into one for me. I couldn’t keep track of it all! The trip started rough. My bag that had my tripod in it was lost so I had to figure out a solution for filming. Luckily Oliver Hulshorst (there’s a dot thing above the U and I don’t know how to do it) came to my rescue. He hooked me up with his tripod so I could actually get some awesome content! WJUC opening ceremonies are always crazy positive vibes! I got another Sport Center Top 10 clip from Loic Billet, which would later win the Ultiworld public vote for catch of the year. From Team Canadian, Suzuki and Stonehouse gain the respect of every team they played with show stopping plays and great spirit. France and Italy were incredible to watch as well #17 from the France women’s team was stupid fun to watch!! Erica from the USA Men’s side actually was dumb with how high they got with layout blocks.

Over the Summer/Fall I did some more work with Ultimate Spirit the community really has come together around this organization and again, it’s be amazing to be apart of!

I was flown out to Championship weekend to film for a promo video! Unfortunately I haven’t had time to edit a highlight video of it so I included some fun moments in this video!

From Regionals I went to Club Nationals! Colorados domination was impressive as heck to watch! The game between Molly and 6ixers and Bravo and Rhino was dream content! I’m very lucky to be able to go there as often as I do!After Club Nats I actually got to play in a fun tournament with my friends, my one tournament of the year hahah. We won, I threw a couple discs and score once or twice :) made me happy. I’m always down to play in tournaments!

Last Stop was popping into Mexico for Mex Open. I screwed up dates with a wedding so I was only able to go for a day! I had some amazing tacos and enjoyed a fun day of ultimate!
