A team of researchers and a robotics company developed a robot shoulder that can grow human tissue.

Instead of cultivating tendon tissue in boxes, the team decided to grow them in a human approach through a robot that imitates a human shoulder. The process worked by placing hair-like filaments on the robot, and a bioreactor, which is an apparatus for growing organisms. It then proceeded to flood relevant areas with nutrients to stimulate growth. The cells were then given a two-week period to develop. During that time, the shoulder would be activated for 30 minutes daily by being bent and twisted in human-like ways.

Someday, the humanoid robot can be used to replace arms, legs, and other human appendages, should the technology be repeated and replicated with human tissue.
