I found this beautiful ant species in our backyard and spent close to two hours recording it while it was exploring a feijoa leaf before settling down to feed on a rather large drop of honey. It looked amazing the way it was using its mouthparts to consume the sugary particles.
The entire compilation of clips was captured with my Canon 100mm macro lens on my Canon 1 DX II. For the higher magnification stills I also used my Laowa 25mm ultra macro lens at different magnification ratios on my Canon 80D. I also added some interesting pieces of information for educational purposes.
