Many thousands sirens in Switzerland are tested at the same time on the first Wednesday in February. It starts at 1.30 pm with the „general alert“, a regular ascending and descending tone for one minute. In some areas of Switzerland you can hear the „water or flooding alert“ which starts at 2.15 pm. You can hear 12 continous deep sounds lasting for 20 seconds.
This video is from Adliswil, south of Zurich. The water alarm is sounded because the dam and lake (Sihlsee) near Einsiedeln are a risk for all cities on the river Sihl.
The sirens in this film are Kockum Sonics, Tyfonic Delta.
99% of the Swiss emergency sirens have passed the annual test.
