What has changed with Windows 11?

➡️ Navigation seems streamlined, sleek and generally more simplified than Windows 10. The biggest changes are around the task bar, it’s centred, with more animations for opening and closing apps, which can easily be moved, and a cleaner tray area overall. This is now locked at the bottom of the screen.

➡️ Another area that’s had a complete face-lift is: the Settings. Again...this is where they seem to have taken inspiration from...macOS or iOS, with their sleek redesign. Not only have they got the classic light and dark themes, you can also have completely customizable options too.

➡️ Talking about reliability, the experience isn’t 100% perfect as of now, of course it can be a little buggy. Though, frequent updates will be introduced that will supposedly improve your PCs performance. Windows 11 has chosen CPUs that embrace this new Windows Driver model, these are even supported by silicon partners that are achieving a 99% crash free experience.

➡️ When it comes to compatibility, it has specifically been designed to be compatible with all the standard apps. And it should be compatible with the vast majority of PCs on the market.

➡️ Microsoft is shifting to a so-called zero trust security framework. This will be alongside such security protections that have been in the making since Windows 8. Virtualization-based security and Hypervisor-protected code integrity which works by encrypting memory sectors, in order to protect data that could potentially be interfered with by other apps.

➡️ And, what would Windows 11 be without the “security standard” for members of the PC industry - a Secure Boot. This essentially means that the device only boots whilst using trusted software from the OEM.

Final thoughts ➡ whilst this new update isn’t a complete overhaul of Windows 10, it’s safe to say they had a couple touch-ups here and there, and had some creaky floor-boards sorted out. We're sure many of you will appreciate the streamlined experience, and sleek UI. At this stage, there are still changes and improvements to be made, and we're glad they’ve incorporated some more security practises...it’s 2021 after all.

1️⃣ Bitdefender antivirus - best malware protection
Not only do they have a great free version, but I don’t feel cheated with what the premium options have to offer. In contrast to Norton 360’s standard plan, for the same price Bitdefender offers one of their most advanced suites. Even with Bitdefender's free plan you protect your web surfing, and banking through their anti-phishing and anti-fraud features. I do favour their premium features though as files are protected from ransomware attacks and you can even use their file shredder to destroy any sensitive documents, again, a feature you won’t find with a few providers we’ve mentioned today.

2️⃣ Norton 360 antivirus - best features if you can afford them
I honestly found this service offers really great protection, without you having to sacrifice your device performance, which I really resent. That alone is hugely valuable to me. To be fair to Norton, even their standard package offers some good additions like a firewall, which helps you block suspicious traffic, offers 10 GB of cloud backup, a VPN and even a password manager.
