This is a short version of a video we uploaded almost 12 months ago, of a bespoke designed and crafted contemporary walnut kitchen for an old rectory in the Cotswolds. The original longer video - acclaimed by leading kitchen blogger Grahame Morrison as "the best kitchen video ever" - shows how a bespoke kitchen is designed and made from rare English walnut.

It's an experience: from great boards of that walnut being carried into Simon's workshop through a sun-dappled Dorset lane to the final meticulous dressing of the kitchen island as night falls outside one cold December evening...

Simon Pirie specialises in creating bespoke kitchens for clients across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset, but this job was unusual because much of the kitchen is solid native walnut, with another solid timber - sycamore - used in many of the parts that you can't really see. A lot of English walnut was required -- along with masses of attention to detail in design, in building and in fitting.
