Common Angel Sharks Facts | Endangered Species "The Sand Devil"


Angelshark
The angelshark is a cartilaginous fish that lives and thrive in waters throughout the Mediterranean Sea to the eastern Atlantic Ocean, from to Mauritania to Scandinavia. It no longer occurs in numerous areas of the Mediterranean and is infrequent throughout the rest of the Canary Islands. The primary danger to the angelshark is commercial fishing, predominantly by demersal fisheries that primarily function in depths where the common angleshark lives. As of 2016 the angelshark was put on the endangered species Angelsharks are recognized by their peculiar shape. Most angelsharks are found in coastal and outer continental shelf sediment habitats in the Mediterranean Sea and eastern Atlantic. These angel sharks are nocturnal sea bottom dwellers, occurring in depths of 16 to 492 feet, and prefer 2 spend most of their time buried in the sand or mud during the day. Most angel sharks are ambush and attack predators, meaning they lie in wait for prey to pass closely overhead before attacking. They eat mostly fishes and small sea creatures, Female angel sharks give birth to live young, with a two or three year reproductive cycle. Angel sharks are just another glimpse into natures beauty.
