This is a large house of character found in one of the many alleys in Zebbug, minutes from the buzzing main square and church of this town. When the last family member moved out, the house was locked up and everything inside remains unchanged. Time has gone by but the grandeur of this house can still be felt with the high ceilings, tall doorways and thick walls.

This modest courtyard had an extension added from the kitchen which could be removed to expand the space and add more plants and perhaps a table and chairs for those al fresco dinners in summer.

Off a tangent from the hallway, one finds a large, elongated room which was used as a sitting room and for some time also as a bedroom. This room has a high ceiling that matches that of what used to be a mill room in the past, part of which now is the kitchen. Its ceiling comes with original features of the large stone slabs 'xorok' supported by 'kileb'.

Just off the sitting room is a large kitchen/dining room with access to the courtyard on one side and access to the cellar/storeroom that lead onto the back garden on the opposite side. This kitchen had space for another sofa set, so it was also used as an informal sitting room.

As you can see in the photo the ceiling is supported by arches; however, the original room was actually a mill room with higher arches that still exist today. The family created a mezzanine level by installing a lower ceiling for the kitchen to make use of an upper level for the raising of birds and chickens.

Going back to the entrance hall, just on the right is the spacious stairway. It is large enough to have another sitting room at the bottom of it.

On the first floor, you step into a series of high-ceilinged rooms with wooden french doors and patterned tiles. Light floods the rooms here, most of which consist of bedrooms, landing spaces and a bathroom.

This is the top part of the mill room in the mezzanine area on top of the kitchen. The new owners may wish to remove this flooring and the lower arches in the kitchen to restore the mill room to its original, grand state, perhaps turning the space into a large living/dining area or possibly including the kitchen too.

At the back of what was the mill room is this lovely patch of soil bearing citrus trees and giving future homeowners the possibility of possibly growing a small vegetable patch too.

Finally, we get to the garage, which is part of the house and was converted to a living room some time ago. As with most of the house, the space is abundant. With its width and high ceiling (supported by wooden booms), a garage here would fit four cars with substantial storage space up top.

This property has a lot of potential as a new, large home or perhaps as a B&B.
