A Veteran’s Journey to Healing with a Rescue Dog | Scott & Junie's Story

This Veterans Day, we’re proud to share Scott and Junie’s story, a powerful example of the impact of the SpotOn Gives Grant program. In honor of our 5th anniversary, SpotOn committed $250,000 to animal nonprofits across the U.S., awarding a grant to Operation Delta Dog—a New Hampshire nonprofit that rescues shelter dogs and trains them as service animals for veterans in need.

Meet Scott Hyder, a 10-year Army veteran and retired police officer, who faced mental health challenges after his military service. Initially unsure about having a service dog, Scott found in Junie not just a companion, but a lifeline. Through Operation Delta Dog, Scott now has the support of a community of veterans and a loving, loyal service dog by his side.

Today, Scott advocates for Operation Delta Dog’s mission to give veterans like him and rescue dogs a new start, proving that both can find purpose together. This Veterans Day, we’re honored to highlight Scott’s journey and the life-changing impact of organizations like Operation Delta Dog, made possible in part through SpotOn Gives.
