Stone Grafting
----------------------

1.Cut the top of the root stock to leave it 3-4 inches high.

2.Make a 1 inch slit straight down from the centre of the top of the rootstock with a razor blade.

3.Trim both sides of the end of the scion
to make a point, leaving the scion
about 3-4 inches long. The trimmed
point should be 1 inch long.

4.Now carefully insert the point of the scion into the slit on the rootstock.

5.The rootstock and the scion should be exactly fitting

6.Very carefully bind the root stock and scion with a thin plastic strip so that water cannot enter. The cut parts of the rootstock and scion should be completely covered

About cambium layer,
----------------------------------
Cambium, plural Cambiums, orCambia, in plants, layer of actively dividing cells between xylem (wood) and phloem
(bast) tissues that is responsible for the secondary growth of stems and roots (secondary growth occurs after the first season and results in increase in thickness).

Understanding the cambium layer is crucial to grafting success. The cambium is a layer of tissue just under the tree rind.... For a graft to be successful, the cambium layer of the rootstock and the cambium layer of the scion or bud need to be held in contact. These layers then grow together forming a healthy graft union.
