Garlic Growth Hack: Water Bottles to the Rescue!

Garlic cloves: Preferably organic, as they are less likely to have growth inhibitors.
Plastic water bottles: Clear bottles are best to observe root development.
Water: Use room temperature water, preferably distilled or non-chlorinated.
Steps to Grow Garlic in Water Bottles:
Prepare the Bottles: Clean the water bottles and cut them in half. You'll use the top half of each bottle as a container for the garlic clove. Invert the top into the bottom half to hold it up, creating a sort of self-contained planter.
Prepare the Garlic Cloves: Separate the cloves from the garlic bulb. Use cloves that are plump and healthy looking. There's no need to peel them.
Set Up Your Clove: Fill the inverted top part of the bottle with water, leaving about half an inch of space between the water and the top of the bottle. Place the garlic clove pointed-end up so that the bottom half (the root end) barely touches the water. This can be achieved by using the bottle cap as a support under the clove or making small holes in the bottle cap to sit the clove on.
Place in Proper Location: Set your water bottle garlic garden in a place that receives indirect sunlight. A windowsill that gets some sunlight but not direct hot sun is ideal.
Root Growth Observation: Over the next few days, roots should start to appear. Change the water every few days to prevent algae growth and keep it fresh.
Care and Maintenance: Make sure the root end of the clove is always just touching the water. Adjust the water level as necessary.
Harvesting: As the garlic grows, green shoots will emerge from the top of the clove. These can be cut and used as garlic greens in cooking. For the roots, once they have grown robust and plentiful, you can harvest by simply removing the garlic clove from the bottle. The roots can be used as a flavorful addition to various dishes.
Restart or Reuse: After harvesting, you can start with new cloves in the same setup to continuously grow garlic.
