Sri Rangathaswamy Temple has played a great religious significance throughout history. Devotees from all over India come to pay tribute to Lord Ranganath.

Srirangam temple is the worlds largest functioning Hindu temple. This temple occupies an area of 155acres. It has over seven enclosures, and you’ll even find a small city settlement in the outer two enclosures. You will have to walk over 10km just to take a circle around the temple corridors.
This temple was first established in 9th century, then subsequently built by four different dynasties - Chola, Pandya, Hoysala, and Vijaynagar samarajya. You will see the architectural touch of these times.

How to plan a trip?
1. Reach Trichy - Trichy has an airport and is well connected by Indian railways.
2. You’ll find a lot of hotels near the temple.
3. You can book a cab or use public transport within Trichy. The bus connectivity is very good.
4. Do dress modestly inside the temple premises.

This temple opened my eyes to the glorious history of India! The atmosphere is filled with religious fervour and devotion. I spent three days visiting each and every corner of this temple, and I feel I’ve barely done justice. One day will not be enough experience the mightly Srirangam temple. Take your time and plan a leisurely trip.
