Refurbishing my carbs it's evident that they've been swapped over the years. One had an 'external spring' lift pin, the other internal. Turns out that there are (at least) 3 types of lift pins that have been fitted on these caburettors over the years.

These particular carbs are from a Daimler 2.5 litre V8 & are semi-downdraught SU HD6 x 2 but the piston lift pins feature on virtually all SU carbs. The part rumber for the rubber seals is AUC 4943 & are available from Burlen Fuel Systems https://sucarb.co.uk/shop.
