TBOC 10th Anniversary Celebration Video

Today we celebrate our 10th Anniversary!

By the beard of Zeus how time flies. Now it is the second round birthday of the club. So much has happened in the last ten years, we pause for a moment and look back. What at the beginning was rather smiled at as a "trend" has now firmly established itself and is growing steadily. We are here to stay, as are our beards.

The club was launched as an online community on August 24, 2011, but the idea goes back much further. Tactical beards are nothing new in their meaning. They were not called that, but everyone knows the beard of a prehistoric warrior. After all, a beard is something like the expression of rough savagery and the natural growth of hair.

In 2001, the beard of the warrior interpreted for modern times experienced its revival in our Western world with the first units of the Green Berets, who dared to go into the deepest interior of Afghanistan without extreme "tactical" equipment and on horseback in the first missions under the umbrella of the "Global War on Terror (GWOT)". In 2003, there were large photos of Green Berets and other special forces in the German "Spiegel" magazine that showed Western soldiers quite differently. As bearded warriors, with leather belts, pirate headscarves, and leather sheathed knives. And of course weapons without "attachments".

When it happened in 2011 - rather by a witty thought - that TBOC was launched on Facebook, we didn't think much of announcing it on Chris Costa's Fan Page (because Costa was called ”The Beard“ by his fans and his beard was referred to as ”Face Kevlar“ back in the days…), of all places, that we had now started the "Tactical Beard Owners Club" (a name that never changed - first thought. boom). "For all beard owners who not only had a passion for the naturally masculine sprouting of hair follicles but who were also interested in anything that threw pieces of metal into the landscape propelled by an explosion.“

Now 10 years on, Tactical Beard Owners Club sees itself as an integrated part of the firearms "tactical community" and a "specialized club" among beard clubs. De facto the "Major League" of beard clubs, as it is also one of our trademarks. What could there be to surpass this beard club? Maybe the "nuclear key owner beard club" …just kidding. But we are also the "niche in the niche" and thus it is not surprising that we do not have 500,000 members now. Beard owners who meet our membership requirements are not to be found like sand on the sea. And the western armies and Police forces are rather slowly (but they do it) opening up to the beard owners. That is why there is always suspicion besides admiration.

So it happened that (according to the club founder’s memory – and he swears by his beard – "it was like this") a Costa fan (or rather "not-fond-of-the-beard-fan"?) wrote under the proclamation "Have fun riding the dead horse..." To this, we answer: ”the condemned live longer“… and the rest is history. As you can already read on the TBOC website... Tactical beard owners are still around and no one talks about hipster beards anymore... Hipsters are so 2010.

We see our self-image as a rock in unclear times. Here, everyone knows where they stand and what to expect. Here, deeper ties are forged than just superficial "chat friendships". Yes, we call ourselves brotherhood not out of fanaticism or extremism, but out of the terms like "brother in spirit" and "brother in arms". We are a bulwark that cannot be dismantled if everyone is aware that he carries and bears and stands by his comrade, with an understanding to the other person that comes automatically from the clear focus of the club. We can serve as a network that immediately produces security and also promotion of its members.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have been with us since the beginning and have stood by the club, those who are new and enrich the club by your actions. Without you, we would not be where we are now. And we remember all those who have left us. We also remember those we lost through tragedy.
