Gunnamatta Ocean beach, Victoria. Vayu Aura X 5m, Code foils 720 S, Sunova Carver 5'10"x

Fun, but tricky place to foil. It's an ocean beach with high period swell, rips, currents and sneaker sets. Today the channel was narrow, the bank not that great and the wind swung cross off, to offshore, making it hard to get down the face. Tim my mate, was having trouble floating and riding on his windsurfer, with the other wind surfers going in and the one kiter getting drifted down the beach.. Foils are just so efficient when up, they make these conditions fun and rideable.

* Note this is NOT a beginner spot, you have to be really confident in getting up or in your ability to navigate swell and strong rips.. There are too many drownings here every year, DO NOT go there as a beginner..*

The Aura X is light and stiff and gets me up early in fickle light winds, it also points up wind really well, to get back out behind the break.

Foiling through white and air rated water is really not that fun, but the Code 720 S, handles it really well for an 9:5 AR foil and me a 90kg rider.

Again, the Sunova Carver is great for light wind riding, waves and getting on foil as early as possible
