With the start of Indian Premier League, everyone is eagerly waiting to see who will win this year's IPL. However, another demand which is being made it to bring reservation in the Indian Cricket Team.

I did my own research and found that out of the 441 players who have represented India, only 10% players are Sikh, Muslim or Dalits. The reason for their low representation in three-fold. First, these communities have been socially and economically backward. Second, these players could never become role models for their community. Third, Cricket is an expensive game which is concentrated in big cities.

South Africa team has had quota system since 1990s and there have been many backlash for the same. From famous players like Kevin Peterson and AB de Villiers addressing these issues in their autobiographies. This video provides an insight on these issues and how this low numbers can be increased in India.
