————————————-
In 607/606, as crown prince, Nebuchadnezzar commanded an army with his father in the mountains north of Assyria, subsequently leading independent operations after Nabopolassar’s return to Babylon. After a Babylonian reverse at the hands of Egypt in 606/605, he served as commander in chief in his father’s place and by brilliant generalship shattered the Egyptian army at Carchemish and Hamath, thereby securing control of all Syria. In reality, the battle was more of a draw than a decisive victory for either side but resulted in the world's first known peace treaty in 1258 BCE.

King Agorkoli

Togbe Agorkoli was the legendary ruler of Notsie, a modern-day Togo city. During his reign, the Ewe peoples of what is now Ghana and Togo fled Notsie and settled in their current homelands. He ruled the Ewe with an iron hand, putting anyone who spoke out against him on trial and, always, finding them guilty, which meant death.
