For the award-winning guitarist Arne Jansen, the Orchestra Baobab is the "Buena Vista Social Club in Senegal". In 2017 Jansen met the musicians of the Orchestra Baobab on an African tour. The Senegalese band is considered a legend, the musicians have been playing together for 49 years and have made West African music known worldwide. Together, the German jazz trio and the African musicians performed in Dakar. It was a brilliant concert, and it was clear to everyone: It will continue!
In the summer of 2019 this act comes as a big Afro-Salsa Night on Sunday evening on the Main Stage of JazzBaltica-Festival. Arne Jansen says: "My band and I have experienced the collaboration with the Orchestra Baobab as one of the most moving and spiritual experiences. It's more than 'just music', it's a lifestyle and a heartfelt communication with the audience". The Goethe Institut (german cultural institution) supports this collaboration.
