How to Grow Creeping Jenny

After all of these years how have I not dedicated a video to this amazing plant? I love creeping jenny and use it frequently in my garden. In this video I talk about how to grow creeping jenny ( lysimachia nummularia ) as well as various ways to grow the plant. Creeping jenny can be grown in many ways. I like them as a trailer for potted arrangements and for marginal plantings in aquatic set ups. Creeping jenny is often sold as an annual because of this being an easy to grow plant that grows quickly. However, Lysimachia nummularia is a perennial at least in USDA zones 4-8 and potentially even zones 3-10. Often times the plants may be sold as golden moneywort, golden creeping jenny or creeping jenny 'goldilocks' from proven winners. All of these plants are creeping jenny Lysimachia nummalaria 'aurea' and have a more yellow to lime green foliage than the regular creeping jenny. Care for both plants is the same, but there will be variances in the color on the gold creeping jenny depending on sunlight. Either way how to grow gold creeping jenny is the same as the regular. How to propagate creeping jenny is a piece of cake also, how much more could you ask for? Growing creeping jenny in terrariums is a fun option that I did not talk about as much as I would have liked to, but maybe that will be a good video for terrarium tuesdays season 2 in 2021. Creeping jenny as a houseplant is an option, but the care will be a little different. Give them lots of light and water indoors, reduce watering and fertilizing in fall and winter, but still water when the top inch of soil is dry. They prefer well drained, organically rich soil that is consistently moist. These plants are excellent option for self-watering containers.
