My Solo Trip to Leh Ladakh 🇮🇳

I landed in Leh around 10:30 AM as scheduled with IndiGo. The flight was smooth, just like any other domestic journey in India.
I had pre-booked a bed at Milanlam Hostel in the main market area through Booking.com. It’s only about 4.5 km from the airport, but the taxi cost me Rs. 550, as prices are fixed by the local taxi union. They actually have a printed rate chart, which makes pricing transparent and fair.
Once I reached the hostel (20 minutes later), I asked for the room rent before revealing my online booking. The staff quoted Rs. 700 per night, whereas Booking.com showed Rs. 1200 + GST—so I simply canceled the online reservation and booked directly at the counter.
My dorm was on the third floor, and I shared the room with three fellow travelers—all from South Korea 🇰🇷.
Within a few hours, I started feeling altitude sickness—a heavy head and no appetite. As per travel advisory, I rested on the bed, scrolled through my phone, and eventually fell into a deep sleep.
At around 3 PM, I woke up and stepped out to explore. To my surprise, the hostel was right in the middle of the market! Just opposite were restaurants offering food from all over the world. I decided to try something local: Thukpa, a warm noodle soup—it was delicious and comforting.
I returned to my room for some rest and later went back out around 7:30 PM to explore the market again. I had a half plate of momos for dinner. 🥟
I also met a few bikers who shared their tips and experiences, which gave me a lot more clarity and confidence for the coming days.
