Dr. Elliot Koranteng Tannor is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine of the School of Medicine and Dentistry of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Senior Specialist Physician and Consultant Nephrologist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana. He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP) and Fellow of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) after training in Cape Town, South Africa in 2016.
He is the Educational Committee Chairman of the Ghana Kidney Association (GKA) and the Chairman of the Young Nephrologists Committee of the Africa Association of Nephrology (AFRAN). He is a member of the AFRAN’s COVID-19 working group and a member of the ISN/DOPPS COVID-19 survey group. He is a member of the ISN Educational Committee and part of the first cohort of Emerging Leaders Program of the International Society of Nephrology.
He is a Senior Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity with the George Washington University, championing health equity in access and management of kidney disease in Ghana. He is the Founder/CEO of Kidney Health International a local NGO promoting Kidney health in Ghana and Beyond.
He has 23 research publications and written 17 educational online publications on kidney disease prevention. He is a kidney Health advocate, health promoter and educates the general public about kidney disease and its prevention. He has organized free kidney health screening for over 3,000 people, set up of renal management teams in 5 district hospitals in Ghana, visited 13 radio station, 9 television stations and 23 organized groups educating on kidney disease prevention in 4 years. He has written and book on “How to prevent Kidney disease which has been launched in two regions in Ghana.
Dr. Tannor is a Principal Investigator of the KNUST site of the H3Africa Kidney Disease Research Network. This big multi-national African study has recruited over 7,000 subjects with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and controls. This study will allow understanding of the contribution of APOL1 gene variants to the development of CKD in black Africans.
He is married with four children and learning how to play the piano.

This channel is the beginning of one of the many initiatives to be undertaken by the Africa Healthcare Network(AHN) in the domain of education, training and research in Nephrology in the African continent.
